She may have babies on the brain, but Chrissy Teigen is very much a kid at heart herself.

The model had a Super Mario 3D World-themed 28th birthday bash Tuesday in West Hollywood, where she came dressed as Princess Peach, while her husband of two months, John Legend, 34, wore a Mario costume.

“I’ve wanted always wanted to dress like this,” she told PEOPLE. “I’ve Tweeted incessantly about Nintendo and my love for Nintendo for a long time.”

And while birthday gifts weren’t at the top of her mind for the star, a bigger gift might be.

“I’m definitely antsy for it,” Teigen said of having kids with her new husband. “My best friend just had a baby so I look at that and I’m like, ‘This is so beautiful, so amazing’ I can’t wait to be the parent that I always make fun of!”

But before taking care of a bun in the oven, Teigen’s got a turkey to attend to.

“I’ve already started cooking for Thanksgiving. We’re hosting, like, 20 people at our house, most of his family,” she said.

“This year, I’ve decided quality over quantity. Last year I had probably 18 different sides for 20 people. I went crazy,” she said with a laugh.

“So this year, I’m going to keep it small: My mom’s scalloped potato recipe is fantastic. It has bacon and ham cubes. John uses this Alton Brown recipe for turkey brining. And then there’s this peach cobbler recipe with tapioca that’s fantastic. It’s nice and thick and saucy and good.”
