Chris Isaak fans can rejoice: Showtime will continue the crooner’s low-rated but critically acclaimed “The Chris Isaak Show” for a third season, reports Variety. Thirteen new episodes will begin production in January, with a summer 2003 premiere. So far, such guest stars as the Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, KISS’s Paul Stanley, Stevie Nicks and Lisa Loeb have graced the cable network’s show, on which Isaak, 46, basically plays himself — though there has yet to be a plotline about his real-life relationship with reputed ex-girlfriend Margaret Cho. Then again, perhaps next season there could also be an episode on what PEOPLE’s “Chatter” column reported last month, on how Chris Isaak got to surf with four-time world champ Layne Beachley while touring Australia. A surfer for 25 years, Isaak was making an appearance at a music store in Sydney when Beachley approached him and invited him to hit the waves. The next day the pair went to Manly Beach but Isaak didn’t really see much of her, he said, because Beachley was always on a wave while he was bobbing in the ocean “like a cork.” Still, he told PEOPLE, “It was fun to see this petite woman kick butt.”
