But the Carrie star does not reveal the reason why

Devoted daughter Chloë Grace Moretz has issued a heartfelt request on behalf of her mom, Teri.

“Please pray for my mama <3" the Carrie actress Tweeted on Tuesday, without elaborating on the reason why.

Earlier this year, the 16-year-old starlet opened up to InStyle U.K. about her mom’s cancer battle when she was 10, calling it “scary and hard,” reports the Daily Mail.

It is not known whether that illness is related to Moretz’s recent plea.

However, the Hugo star did tell InStyle U.K. that her mother’s cancer, as well as her father’s decision to leave the family, had a huge impact on her worldview.

“It made me realize, along with everything that happened with my Dad, that your parents aren’t these godly figures. They re not chosen by the heavens,” she explained. “They’re humans. Their bodies can fail and they can die at any moment. They make mistakes. They cry. They fight. It definitely, from a young age, put everything into perspective for me.”

The young actress’s call for support was answered by many, including pal Abigail Breslin, who Tweeted, “Guys, please send prayers and love for my girl @ChloeGMoretz mom. Love you, Chlo. Xx.”

Moretz’s mom appears to be a steadying force for the popular young actress, who last year told Seventeen her mom isn’t afraid to discipline her when needed.

“I just got my phone back yesterday,” Moretz recounted. “My mom had it for like two days. I was supposed to read a book and I really wanted to play Call of Duty.”

Her mother and four brothers also helped her celebrate her Sweet 16 earlier this year, along with surprise guest Julianne Moore, who plays her less-than-supportive mother in the Carrie remake, which hits theaters Oct. 18.
