Britain’s biggest hit of last year, “Believe” by Cher, has shot to No. 1 in America — her first chart-topper in her home country in 25 years. “I am thrilled,” she told the British Press Association. “The whole thing started in Britain.” The single debuted at No. 1 on the British charts and stayed there for seven weeks, becoming the biggest seller of 1998.
