Yet, "I've always known that I'd be a mom from the time I was little," she says

When Charlize Theron discusses her boyfriend of seven years, Irish actor Stuart Townsend, she’s apt to get primal.

“Man, woman. Like to touch each other,” is the Monster Oscar winner’s “cavewoman grunt” response when asked about their relationship by W magazine, for its June issue.

Though Theron, 32, refers to Townsend, 35, as her husband, and she even sports a ring on the proper finger, the two are, in fact, not legally wed, says the magazine. And that’s fine with Theron.

“I always knew that I didn’t want to get married,” she says. But the attitude does not preclude her from wanting to have children.

“I’ve always known that I’d be a mom from the time I was a little girl,” Theron adds.

She’s clearly had a good role model. The other person to whom Theron is close is her mother, Gerda, who lives near Charlize and Stuart in Southern California after having moved from the family’s native South Africa eight years ago.

Most weekends, says the actress – soon to be seen with Will Smith in Hancock – she and Townsend spend time with a close circle of friends and family. “We cook great dinners,” she says, “and have shared many bottles of great red wine.”
