As the father of two teen-age boys, Prince Charles showed his gratitude Wednesday while opening a new medical facility in his hometown. “I have two rapidly growing offspring who continually injure themselves at one sport or another,” Charles said at a ceremony inaugurating the General Osteopathic Council’s new London headquarters. “I’m glad there are osteopaths around who can help them,” he said of Princes William, 16, and Harry, 14. Charles, who suffers from a bad back (and reportedly never travels without a lumbar cushion to ease the pain in his lower region), has long promoted osteopathy, which places special emphasis on the relationship between the body’s systems.

  • Specialist osteopaths have also treated some of his animals, Charles said, adding: “I did know a certain amount about animal osteopathy — I have had animals of my own that have benefited from this treatment.”
