Summer's Hottest Weddings
LAUREN CONRAD & WILLIAM TELL
It was no surprise that the fashionista's Sept. 13 wedding was as stylish as she is. Conrad said I do to lawyer Tell at a small winery tucked into the 'hills' of Santa Ynez Valley, California, with the rolling countryside serving as the TV-ready backdrop. The bridesmaids, including the actress's former The Hills costar, Lo Bosworth, wore different designs from Conrad's Paper Crown fashion line. The reception, held under a tent surrounded by Mediterranean-style buildings and acres of vineyards, featured gourmet food and a photo booth. And the party favor? A bottle of wine, of course!
CHEYENNE JACKSON & JASON LANDAU
"I lost it as soon as Jason came around the corner with his mom," Jackson admitted to PEOPLE of his Sept. 13 wedding to Landau. The two exchanged vows under a chuppah (a Jewish wedding canopy) at a pal's Encino, California, estate, where the nuptials' glitzy-meets-earthy theme was achieved with 20 trees and 100 chandeliers interspersed throughout the space. At the reception, it was show time for the grooms, who surprised guests, including Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Leah Remini, with a choreographed dance to Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T." Says Jackson, "It came out of nowhere – everybody went crazy."
ASHLEY TISDALE & CHRISTOPHER FRENCH
The High School Musical alum knew the look she wanted for her Sept. 8 wedding to French: rustic and romantic. While her groom, a musician, looked sharp in a dark modern suit, Tisdale evoked a fairy tale princess with a flowing white ball gown and flower crown. The idyllic theme continued at the venue, near Santa Barbara, California, where guests were seated at long wooden farm tables covered with lace runners and garden rose centerpieces. "Best day of my life! Introducing Mr. and Mrs. French," she posted on Instagram the next day.
FRAN DRESCHER & SHIVA AYYADURAI
In a red Badgley Mischka dress, Drescher stood out against the wedding's all-white palette when she tied the knot with Ayyadurai on Sept. 7 at their L.A. beach home. The Happily Divorced star met her husband, an MIT-trained scientist and entrepreneur who holds the copyright for email, one year before at an event hosted by Deepak Chopra. Though the guest list was limited to a few close pals and family, Drescher shared her happiness later that day by Tweeting a wedding photo of her and the groom. "Surprise!!!!!" she wrote. "We got married!"
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS & DAVID BURTKA
When you wait eight years to marry your love, a simple city hall wedding just won't do. So Harris and Burtka flew to Italy and, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, including their 3½-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon, wed in an intimate ceremony on Sept. 6. Plenty of friends helped out: Harris's How I Met Your Mother director, Pam Fryman, officiated, and there was a special musical performance by – wait for it! – Elton John.
GABRIELLE UNION & DWYANE WADE
Miami heat, indeed! The actress and her basketballer beau married in Miami on Aug. 30 in front of an intimate crowd of family and friends (who were also treated to a performance by John Legend). From the start it sounded like it might be an unconventional affair: Wade took over planning duties from his bride, who told PEOPLE in June that she wanted to make the reception a "frat party with beer pong." However the wasn't into that, and "Kanye-d himself and really doubled down," Union joked to PEOPLE. "I'm really just along for the ride!"
JENNY MCCARTHY & DONNIE WAHLBERG
After spotting Wahlberg and his NKOTB bandmates on MTV as a teen, McCarthy said she fell for the bad boy. Decades later, she connected with him when he appeared on her VH1 show in 2013 – and one year later they got engaged. On Aug. 31, they wed outside Chicago; her 12-year-old son Evan walked her down the aisle. "He is the most amazing man, and we have become a great team," she told PEOPLE of Wahlberg in July. "I am so happy to … marry a man who lets me be me."
ASHLEE SIMPSON & EVAN ROSS
Although Ross said he knew he wanted to marry Simpson "a month after I was with her," the couple, who started dating in the summer of 2013, decided to wait a year, and wed over Labor Day weekend in Connecticut. "I'm so in love and we've got amazing things going on," the Hunger Games star (Diana Ross's son) said late last year, before proposing in January.
BRAD PITT & ANGELINA JOLIE
They finally tied the knot! After nearly a decade together, and six kids later, the couple said the only way they know how – in secret! Two years after Brad popped the question, they covertly married on Aug. 23 in France at Chateau Miraval, their wine-growing estate which features an ancient chapel. Naturally, their kids were in attendance, which, Angelina teased back in May, was always in the plans. "It will be fun," she told PEOPLE of her wedding day. "That's the important thing. When we do it, it will feel like a great day for our family."
VINCENT KARTHEISER & ALEXIS BLEDEL
Someone knows how to keep a secret! After igniting their chemistry as clandestine on-screen lovers, the former Mad Men costars also managed to keep their June wedding ceremony in California hush-hush for nearly two months. The pair first went public with their romance on an N.Y.C. red carpet in October 2012, and Kartheiser proposed five months later. "They are such a yin and yang," costar Elisabeth Moss told PEOPLE shortly after the engagement.
STEPHEN BARKER LILES & JENNA MICHELLE KENNEDY
True love waits – thanks to social media! After reconnecting on Facebook, the Love and Theft musician married his longtime love on Aug. 24 in Nashville. The pair previously dated for seven years then drifted apart, but rekindled their romance thanks to the internet and got engaged in May 2013. "I loved her for a long time and would have asked her sooner, but wanted to wait until I could get her a nice ring," Barker told PEOPLE. The big day took place at The Ruby boutique event center in Music City, with 200 guests including the couple's 9-month-old son, Jett.
ERIK REICHENBACH & DANA RUFF
He survived Survivor. Next up: married life! The two-time reality-show contestant and girlfriend Ruff made it official Aug. 21 on the shores of Lake Michigan. After a first dance to John Legend's "Stay with You," a picturesque summer night was the perfect backdrop for the waterfront fete. "Between the guestbook painting, sparklers, and delicious margaritas, we all had a fantastic time with an incredible beach sunset in the background," Reichenbach told PEOPLE.
NOVAK DJOKOVIC & JELENA RISTIC
Summer was a grand slam for the tennis star – shortly after winning at Wimbledon for the second time, Djokovic married his high-school sweetheart (who is expecting their first child!) on July 10 in Montenegro. The couple, who hail from neighboring Serbia, wed in front of 100 guests in an outdoor ceremony at the coastal Aman St. Stefan resort overlooking the Adriatic. "A lot of great moments are coming," Djokovic said after his Wimbledon win of becoming a husband and father.
WILLIAM HUNG & JIAN TENG
Simon Cowell deemed him one of the worst singers he'd ever seen, but we bet he makes a great husband! The former American Idol quirky sensation said to Teng in Alhambra, California, on June 18. "She's a fantastic wife and I'm glad to have somebody to support me," Hung, now an administrative assistant for the L.A. County Department of Public Health, told PEOPLE. No word on whether "She Bangs" was their first dance.
PIPER PERABO & STEPHEN KAY
What a summer fashion statement! Perabo slipped on a textured metallic gown, paired with a light yellow veil, to wed director-producer Kay (who also bucked tradition in a casual blue suit and gray fedora) on June 26 in New York City. It was a noticeable style choice for the otherwise under-the-radar Covert Affairs star, who met her husband on the hit USA spy series. After "I dos," the band played on – that is, a New Orleans ensemble rocked the couple's reception.
CHERYL HINES & ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.
The Kennedy compound in Hyannisport, Mass., was a fitting wedding locale for the Aug. 2 nuptials of the actress and the political activist, who dated for over two years before tying the knot. Though they planned on eloping (both have been married before), "the next thing we knew, it was a wedding," Hines says. One attended by Hines's former Curb Your Enthusiasm costar Larry David (who first introduced the couple), Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sen. Ed Markey, Kevin Nealon and Ed Begley Jr.
TONY PARKER & AXELLE FRANCINE
August 2 was also a lucky date for the San Antonio Spurs point guard and his French journalist fiancée, who wed in San Antonio, Texas, after celebrating the upcoming big day at a local dancehall with family and friends. It's been a year of celebrations for the couple of three years: they also welcomed their first child, son Josh, in April.
NAYA RIVERA & RYAN DORSEY
Things heated up quickly for the Glee star, who said to Dorsey, an actor and longtime friend, during an intimate ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on July 19 – three months after Rivera and rapper Big Sean's engagement was called off. The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown, the groom sported a Dolce amp Gabbana suit, and they exchanged Neil Lane rings. "We feel truly blessed to be joined as husband and wife," the newlyweds told PEOPLE exclusively. "Our special day was fated and everything we could have ever asked for."
ADAM LEVINE & BEHATI PRINSLOO
The Victoria's Secret Angel took PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive off the market for good on July 19 in Los Cabos, Mexico, where 275 guests – including the Maroon 5 rocker's bandmates – watched the newlyweds exchange vows. "All the guests were happy and relaxed," says a source – but arguably no one was more excited than Prinsloo, who stunned in a custom Marchesa gown.
REGGIE BUSH & LILIT AVAGYAN
Was that Kim Kardashian at ex-beau Bush's wedding on July 12? Nope, that was the lookalike bride! The Detroit Lions' running back wed Avagyan, a dark-haired Armenian dancer he's been dating since 2011, at the sumptuous Grand Del Mar resort in San Diego. Though there actually was a Kardashian family member in the house – Brody Jenner, Kim's stepbrother who posted a shot of the newlyweds on Instagram – the most notable person at the wedding (besides the bride and groom) was the couple's adorable 14-month-old daughter, Briseis.
LINDSAY ELLINGSON & SEAN CLAYTON
"I had the best day of my life yesterday!!" the Victoria's Secret model happily Tweeted the day after her July 12 wedding to Clayton, a medical-equipment sales rep and her boyfriend of six years. The I dos were intimate – just 85 guests – and took place in Bluffton, S.C. The perfect first dance for the sexy twosome? It was reportedly Drake's hit, "Hold On, We're Going Home."
KATHERINE WEBB & AJ MCCARRON
All eyes were back on Webb on July 12 when she walked down the aisle to marry the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback at an Orange Beach, Ala., church. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model – who first gained national prominence when she caught the attention of an admiring ESPN announcer during a 2013 televised game – had her own cheering section at the wedding – 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen!
JESSICA SIMPSON & ERIC JOHNSON
It was like something out of a fairytale for the longtime couple during their magical July 5 nuptials at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. The bride wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown and veil, while her groom donned a charcoal gray John Varvatos tuxedo. "It's so surreal," Simpson told PEOPLE after the event. "This has been something we've wanted ever since we met." The lovebirds were joined by Simpson's mom, Tina, and her sister, Ashlee, as maids of honor and Johnson's father, Stephen, as the best man. But it was 2-year-old flower girl Maxwell and 1-year-old ring bearer Ace that got the standing ovation walking down the aisle!
DAVE COULIER & MELISSA BRING
This happy couple had "the best wedding ceremony ever." Why? It lasted only six minutes; the bride and groom skipped traditional wedding vows because "we say our vows daily to each other," Bring explained to PEOPLE after the nuptials. The reception was a different story: the groom's Full House family made sure to keep things interesting. "[Bob] Saget was like a bull behind the gates at the rodeo," Coulier joked. "He couldn't wait to get to that microphone … he actually went up three different times." Said the bride: "It was like the scene out of Bridesmaids. No one could say enough good things."
MANNY PEREZ & YUMILKA VALERIO
Is there anything more romantic than a sunset beach ceremony in the Dominican Republic? The answer was "no" for the Rescue Me star and his beautiful bride, who jetted off to the Caribbean for their honeymoon following the July 4 nuptials. "This is the happiest and most blessed moment in our lives," the couple told PEOPLE after getting hitched.
JILL DUGGAR & DERICK DILLARD
It wasn't exactly a small-town wedding when 19 Kids and Counting's Duggar enlisted more than 1,000 volunteers in Springdale, Arkansas, to help prep for her June 21 nuptials to Dillard. The tasks at hand? Making more than 600 cupcakes, 3,000 chocolate chip cookies and 3,000 root beer floats. Even sweeter: The couple saved their very first kiss for the moment they became man and wife. "It was worth the wait," the new Mrs. Dillard told PEOPLE.
OLIVIA PALERMO & JOHANNES HUEBL
Here comes the bride, all dressed in ... a white cashmere sweater! Palermo made her big day a fashionable affair as she slipped on a Carolina Herrera outfit – which also included white shorts and a full tulle skirt – to wed the German model in Bedford, New York. "We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends," the style maven wrote on her website.
KATIE COURIC & JOHN MOLNER
In other news… the TV anchor married banker Molner in the backyard of her East Hampton, New York, home on June 21. "We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key," Couric told PEOPLE before the wedding. The ceremony, which Couric says had "traditional touches," featured readings by Molner's children and Couric's daughters. "So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!" Couric Tweeted, sharing a photo of the happy duo.
REID SCOTT & ELSPETH KELLER
From White House playboy to married man! Veep star Scott wed his longtime girlfriend at downtown Los Angeles's Maguire Gardens on June 21. After partying with guests, including actor Brendan Patrick Hines and Mad Men's Ben Feldman, the couple continued the festivities in a more exotic locale. "Hope you had a great weekend. I'm off to Fiji now," Scott Tweeted. "No haters."
SEBASTIAN ROCHé & ALICIA HANNAH
A weeklong celebration in the south of France marked the May 31 nuptials of Paris-born Vampire Diaries star Roché and actress Hannah at Chateau Les Bouysses. Contributing to the chateau's French fantasy were "picturesque rolling grape orchard hills, with a river lazily flowing between them. A 700-year-old castle. Local wine. Baguettes with brie that tastes of heaven," The Mummy actor Oded Ferh, who acted as the couple's officiant, told PEOPLE.
EVE & MAXIMILLION COPPER
A rapper/actress and a British designer and Gumball 3000 race founder: unlikely pair or match made in heaven? It was the latter when Eve married Cooper in Ibiza, Spain, on June 14, after this year's Gumball 3000 race ended on the island. The former sitcom star went classic bride in a high-neck Alice Temperley dress and cathedral-length veil edged in lace. As for the groom's style? "All he needs to do is show up, shave and put on a suit," Eve told i-D.
KIMBERLY PERRY & J.P. ARENCIBIA
It was a celebration down South for The Band Perry singer and Texas Rangers catcher, who tied the knot on June 12 in Greeneville, Tennessee. Friends like Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert attended the intimate gathering in the bride's hometown. It was a fitting location: After meeting at the Florida Strawberry Festival in 2012, the pair got engaged last year under an oak tree in the backyard of her family's home.
KIM KARDASHIAN & KANYE WEST
La dolce vita! In true over-the-top Kim Kardashian and Kanye West style, the reality star and rapper kicked off summer by taking their entourage to Florence (the city where they conceived daughter North) to make it official on May 24. After pre-wedding festivities in Paris (including a rehearsal dinner at Versailles), 200 guests, from sisters Khloé and Kourtney to John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, jetted to Italy for the affair. The bride and groom both wore Givenchy and were serenaded by Andrea Bocelli before exchanging vows in front of a wall of flowers at the Forte di Belvedere. "It was a crazy, nonstop, incredible dream," one guest told PEOPLE.
