The Year in Celebrity Weddings
KALEY & RYAN
When you know, you just know! It was a whirlwind engagement and wedding for The Big Bang Theory star Cuoco and her tennis pro boyfriend Sweeting when the couple married on New Year's Eve after six months of dating. Cuoco wore a pink Vera Wang gown at the fire-and-ice-themed celebration."Greatest night of my entire life," she posted on Instagram of the nuptials at Hummingbird Best Ranch in Santa Susana, California.
SEAN & CATHERINE
Bachelor couple Lowe and Giudici defied the odds when they made it to the altar in a live fairytale wedding in front of millions of viewers on ABC. "We want some traditional type of ceremony that just unifies us and then have a big party afterwards," said Giudici of their Jan. 26 Mindy Weiss-designed bash officiated by Lowe's father at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, California.
LEIGHTON & ADAM
STACY & JARED
Not even Keibler's family knew about her plans to tie the knot with her beau of five months, tech entrepreneur Pobre. The two – who were friends for several years before getting together – eloped in romantic fashion on March 8 on the beach in Mexico. "My happiness is indescribable," Keibler told PEOPLE, adding that the ceremony itself was "a blend of romance, tranquility, natural beauty, bonding and overwhelming love."
GINNIFER & JOSH
JODIE & ALEXANDRA
After dating for less than one year, Oscar winner Foster and photographer Hedison exchanged vows in April. Previously, the notoriously private Foster had only publicly hinted at her sexuality with a 2013 Golden Globes speech that many interpreted as her coming out, despite the actress's suggestion that it wasn't. Said Foster, "I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age."
JESSICA & ERIC
It was all about romance for the longtime couple during their magical July 5 nuptials at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. The bride wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown and veil, while her groom donned a charcoal gray John Varvatos tuxedo. "It's so surreal," Simpson told PEOPLE after the event. "This has been something we've wanted ever since we met." The lovebirds were joined by Simpson's mom, Tina, and her sister, Ashlee as maids of honor and Johnson's father, Stephen, as the best man. But it was 2-year-old flower girl Maxwell and 1-year-old ring bearer Ace that got the standing ovation walking down the aisle!
REGGIE & LILIT
The Detroit Lions running back wed Avagyan, a dancer he's been dating since 2011, at the sumptuous Grand Del Mar resort in San Diego. Though there actually was a Kardashian family member in the house – Brody Jenner, Kim's stepbrother who posted a shot of the newlyweds on Instagram – the most notable person at the wedding (besides the bride and groom) was the couple's adorable 14-month-old daughter, Briseis.
KATIE & JOHN
In other news ... the TV anchor married banker Molner in the backyard of her East Hampton, New York, home on June 21. "We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key," Couric told PEOPLE before the big day. The non-religious ceremony featured readings by Molner's children and Couric's daughters. "It was so nice to celebrate such a happy occasion, because we've been through a lot in our lives," said Couric. "We're just so happy we found each other."
OLIVIA & JOHANNES
Here comes the bride, all dressed in ... a white cashmere sweater! Palermo made her big day a fashionable affair as she slipped on a Carolina Herrera outfit – which also included white shorts and a full tulle skirt – to wed the German model in Bedford, New York. "We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends," the style maven wrote on her website.
DAVE & MELISSA
This happy couple had "the best wedding ceremony ever." Why? It lasted only six minutes! The bride and groom skipped traditional wedding vows because "we say our vows daily to each other," Bring explained to PEOPLE after the nuptials. The reception was a different story: the groom's Full House family made sure to keep things interesting. "[Bob] Saget was like a bull behind the gates at the rodeo," Coulier joked. "He couldn't wait to get to that microphone ... he actually went up three different times." Said the bride: "It was like the scene out of Bridesmaids. No one could say enough good things."
JILL & DERICK
It wasn't exactly a small-town wedding when 19 Kids and Counting's Duggar enlisted more than 1,000 volunteers in Springdale, Arkansas, to help prep for her June 21 nuptials to Dillard. The tasks at hand? Making more than 600 cupcakes, 3,000 chocolate chip cookies and 3,000 root beer floats. Even sweeter: The couple saved their very first kiss for the moment they became man and wife. "It was worth the wait," the new Mrs. Dillard told PEOPLE.
ADAM & BEHATI
The Victoria's Secret Angel took PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive off the market for good on July 19 in Los Cabos, Mexico, where 275 guests – including the Maroon 5 rocker's bandmates – watched the newlyweds exchange vows. "All the guests were happy and relaxed," said a source – but arguably no one was more excited than Prinsloo, who stunned in a custom Marchesa gown.
KIMBERLY & J.P.
It was a celebration down South for The Band Perry singer and Texas Rangers catcher, who tied the knot on June 12 in Greeneville, Tennessee. Friends like Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert attended the intimate gathering in the bride's hometown. It was a fitting location: After meeting at the Florida Strawberry Festival in 2012, the pair got engaged last year under an oak tree in the backyard of her family's home.
LISA & ALBERT
Love can be found again! Actress and dancer Niemi wed jeweler DePrisco on May 25 nearly five years after losing her husband Patrick Swayze to pancreatic cancer. The couple, who got engaged on Christmas Eve, wed in Palm Beach, Florida, at The Mar-a-Lago Club in front of 50 friends and family. "What I most look forward to on my wedding day is walking up, standing at our altar and looking into his most incredible, twinkling eyes," she told PEOPLE. "I cannot think of a bigger treat than that."
SAVANNAH & MICHAEL
Shhh – it's a top secret story! In order to announce the exciting wedding news on Today Monday morning, co-anchor Guthrie and Washington, D.C., communications strategist Feldman had to remind guests to keep their nuptials hush-hush – along with some additional news they revealed: she was four months pregnant! Guests at the March 15 wedding in Arizona, including Jon and Dorothea Bon Jovi, Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Hoda Kotb and Willie Geist, erupted in cheers.
LINDA & SARAH
Talk about a hit wedding! When rock musician and producer Perry wed actress and The Talk co-host Gilbert on March 30 at the One Gun Ranch in Malibu, California, music was obviously a large part of the celebrations. First there was the '80s band, Perry serenading Gilbert to John Lennon's "Love" and then singers from various bands joining in for a tune. "You feel safer in a way and you feel like you've really committed," said Gilbert about post-wedding life.
NATE & JEREMIAH
You know it's a good wedding when Oprah Winfrey shows up! Nothing was spared for designer and American Dream Builders host Berkus's wedding on May 3 to designer and TV personality Brent. For starters, the couple married inside the iconic New York Public Library, becoming the first same-sex couple to do so. Winfrey, Rachael Ray, Katie Lee, Rebecca Minkoff and Busy Philipps were among the guests at the extravagant affair, which was decorated with many items from Berkus's own Target line and was capped off with a performance by singer Estelle.
POPPY & SHAWN
They call Disneyland the happiest place on earth for a reason! The Unforgettable actress and her Microsoft executive beau said "I do" at the Anaheim theme park on Feb. 19 in front of their children – and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. While it wasn't exactly a fairytale event (the bride wore jeans), it was what the Aussie star wanted. However, "my mother was horrified," explained Montgomery on Live! With Kelly and Michael. "She was like, 'How do you turn Disneyland into Vegas? You don't run away to Disneyland and get married!'"
KIM & KANYE
It was perhaps the most anticipated wedding of the year – and it didn't disappoint! The celebration started in Paris and included a tour of Versailles and a performance by Lana Del Rey during the rehearsal dinner. The following day, the couple flew nearly 200 guests to Florence, Italy, for the May 24 nuptials at Forte di Belvedere where Andrea Bocelli serenaded Kardashian down the aisle toward a wall of flowers.
BRAD & ANGELINA
Mr. and Mrs. Smith? More like Mr. and Mrs. Pitt! After nine years together Pitt and Jolie said I do in spectacular and super-secret fashion in front of 30 close friends and family (including, of course, their six children, who all had roles in the ceremony). The Aug. 23 nuptials at Château Miraval in France might have been low-key (Pax baked the cake!) but nothing was understated about Jolie's dress: an incredible Atelier Versace gown with dozens of her children's drawings sewn into the veil and dress.
JENNY & DONNIE
The former View co-host had her eye on Wahlberg long before the two began dating. "The first time I saw him, I was in eighth grade and New Kids on the Block was on MTV," she said. "I thought Donnie was the hottest one." The duo married on Aug. 31 inside the Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois, in front of guests including Sherri Shepherd and Joey McIntyre.
GABRIELLE & DWYANE
Who said art mirrors reality? The actress of BET's show about a woman unlucky in love married her Miami Heat basketball-playing dream guy on Aug. 30 in Miami in front of guests dressed in all-white garb. John Legend serenaded the crowd as Union walked down the aisle in a Dennis Basso gown (before switching to a second dress). The couple topped off the celebration with a romantic honeymoon in the Maldives, Africa's Serengeti and the Seychelles.
ASHLEE & EVAN
Rain didn't get in their way! With a little good-luck drizzle in the background, the bohemian bride – in a crop top and lace skirt – walked down the aisle on the arm of her son Bronx , 5, on Aug 30. The nuptials took place at the Connecticut home of the groom's mother, singer Diana Ross, who officiated the ceremony and surprised guests with a performance of her hit "Endless Love."
ASHLEY & CHRISTOPHER
The bride and her musician groom chose Monday, Sept. 8, for their wedding to coincide with their anniversary for their rustic and romantic nuptials in Santa Barbara, California. "Best day of my life!" wrote Tisdale when she announced the wedding (which included bridesmaid Vanessa Hudgens and pal Shenae Grimes) the following day on Instagram.
NEIL & DAVID
"Guess what? David Burtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband,'" posted Harris on Twitter, after he and his partner of 10 years tied the knot on Sept. 6 inside the walls of an Italian castle (now that's storybook romance!). The grooms both wore custom Tom Ford tuxedos and were surrounded by close friends and family, including their two children and How I Met Your Mother director Pam Fryman, who officiated the ceremony.
LAUREN & WILLIAM
It's safe to say there were lots of cheers and clinking of glasses at the nuptials at a boutique winery in California's Santa Ynez Valley on Sept. 14 where a close friend wed Conrad and her musician-lawyer groom. Guests, including the bride's former The Hills and Laguna Beach costars Lo Bosworth, Stephen Coletti and Frankie Delgado, munched on gourmet bites and snapped photos in a photo booth.
GEORGE & AMAL
In arguably the wedding of the year, infamous bachelor Clooney wed British human rights lawyer Alamuddin (wearing a gorgeous French lace Oscar de la Renta gown) in a star-studded ceremony (Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Bono and Matt Damon are just a few of the names) on Sept. 27. The three days of parties in Venice, Italy, were extravagant but also personal. "We met in Italy," Clooney told PEOPLE. "We have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married."
JESSA & BEN
Just like her older sister, Duggar waited for her first kiss when she wed Seewald (who, according to her dad, was one of many men to inquire about dating his daughter but the only to get his seal of approval!) in front of 1,000 people inside the First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, on Nov. 1. The third daughter of 19 Kids & Counting's Jim Bob and Michelle wore a blush beaded bridal gown at the nuptials, which were captured on camera for their hit TLC show. "I am so grateful for my parents," said the bride. "Their influence has been so special to me. I look forward to a long, happy, marriage."
SNOOKI & JIONNI
SCARLETT & ROMAIN
SOLANGE & ALAN
In the most fashionable wedding of the year (The bride wore a cape! The groom was in all white! The guests were in white too!), Knowles and her video director groom tied the knot at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, where they posed for possibly the most artistic wedding photos of all time. "I had the best day of my life and ended it with an abundance of peace, love over flowing through me like never before," she posted on Instagram after the wedding.
LAUREN & JASON
It was the groom who was holding back the tears at this wedding! "I was just trying to not completely cry my eyes out," Kennedy told PEOPLE. The E! News co-host and fashion blogger (who lost her left eye and arm in a propeller accident three years ago) wed at the Four Seasons Resort & Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Texas. "It's the most amazing feeling to be his wife," said Scruggs. For all of PEOPLE's 2014's wedding coverage, click here.
ELTON & DAVID
Nearly a decade after John and Furnish entered a civil partnership, the longtime loves formally said 'I do' in front of friends like Ed Sheeran and their sons Zachary and Elijah (who served as ring bearers) on Dec. 21. And to #ShareTheLove, the couple took fans inside their big day by posting photo updates to John's new Instagram account.
