Countdown to Rebound
KIM KARDASHIAN: 5 MONTHS
It took 72 days of matrimony for Kardashian to call it quits with Kris Humphries and another five months for the reality star to pick up the pieces with pal Kanye West. "You never know what the future holds," the soon-to-be divorcée said of the relationship. Apparently the future holds another wedding: Four months into their romance, the couple got engaged in Italy on her birthday, Oct. 21.
DEBRA MESSING: 1 WEEK
CHRISTINA AGUILERA:1 MONTH
After nearly five years of marriage, the singer separated from husband Jordan Bratman in October 2010. That November, Aguilera tried her best to keep her new relationship with Burlesque set assistant Matt Rutler under wraps. "Matthew is a special person. We had a really strong friendship on the movie," she told PEOPLE, adding, "I'm taking it slow and trying to be happy."
SCARLETT JOHANSSON:2 MONTHS
Two years after tying the knot in a Vancouver wilderness retreat, the actress announced her split from PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive Ryan Reynolds in December 2010. By February, she was linked to Sean Penn, with whom she enjoyed a Mexican vacation and a dinner date at the White House, before cooling off in June.
EVA LONGORIA: 3 MONTHS
"Love did not work with that person. But it can work with another," the actress told Spanish Vanity Fair of her outlook following the 2010 end of her three-year marriage to NBA player Tony Parker. "The only thing I will say is I was very lucky to find [Eduardo Cruz]," Longoria added of moving on with Penélope Cruz's younger brother, whom she dated for a year.
KATY PERRY: 3 1/2 MONTHS
After ending her yearlong marriage to Russell Brand in December 2011, the 27-year-old singer fell into the arms of Robert Ackroyd, a guitarist for Florence + the Machine, at Coachella in April. A PDA-happy Perry and Ackroyd openly kissed, cuddled and swayed to music at the annual music festival in Indio, Calif.
JENNIFER LOPEZ: 4 MONTHS
"We have decided to end our marriage," the American Idol judge told PEOPLE in July 2011 of her split with husband of seven years Marc Anthony. By November, the admittedly lovesick Lopez was bitten by the love bug again – this time with much-younger dancer Casper Smart. Besides defending her romance, she even bought him a car for his 25th birthday.
ASHLEE SIMPSON:4 MONTHS
ASHTON KUTCHER: 5 MONTHS
After ending his six-year marriage to Demi Moore in November, the Two and a Half Men star began spending quality time with former That '70s Show cast mate Mila Kunis in April. "He was so in love with her for a while when they worked together," a source told PEOPLE of Kutcher, who enjoyed a low-key weekend getaway with the actress that month in the coastal town of Carpinteria, Calif. The pair has become more PDA happy in recent weeks, much to Moore's frustration.
HALLE BERRY: 5 MONTHS
Though technically not married, Oscar winner and model Gabriel Aubry were committed to each other for four years before parting ways in April 2010. In the midst of their custody battle for daughter Nahla, Berry sought refuge in the arms of Dark Tide costar Olivier Martinez, who convinced the actress to break her no-more-marriage rule when he proposed in January.
SHANIA TWAIN: 7 MONTHS
When her best friend had an affair with Twain's husband, the singer broke her silence to PEOPLE about the end of her 14-year marriage to producer Mutt Lange in May 2008. Seven months later, a twist of fate would help the country star find love again with Frédéric Thiébaud, the ex-husband of the friend who betrayed her. Proving their love was more than a rebound romance, the couple married on New Year's Day 2011. "Fred has given me a new lease on love," Twain told PEOPLE.
OLIVIA WILDE: 10 MONTHS
After splitting from her real-life Prince Charming, husband of eight years Tao Ruspoli, Wilde reportedly played the field with a bevy of It Guys. "You go on one date and everyone thinks you're dating," the actress said shortly before finalizing her divorce. Months later, she stepped out with SNL funnyman Jason Sudeikis, with whom she will star in the rom-com Relanxious.
