For a few days every year, Park City, Utah, becomes the hottest ticket in Hollywood when the Sundance Film Festival comes to town.

This year, stars like Nicole Kidman, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jason Sudeikis were among the thousands who trekked to the tiny town outside of Salt Lake City to promote their new films and enjoy some of the best parties of the year – and PEOPLE was there to catch all the fun moments.

FRIDAY, JAN. 23
1:56 a.m., Tao Nightclub at Sundance: After Danny Masterson (aka DJ MomJeans) finished his set at the Skullcandy Sundance Kickoff party, he made the cold walk down Main Street to the Elyx-hosted pop-up of the Las Vegas hotspot along with Zoe Kravitz, Chris Pine and Kellan Lutz.

1:43 a.m., Tao Nightclub at Sundance: James Marsden sipped on a Stella Artois beer and sang along to every word of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “N—-s in Paris” while sitting on the back of a booth at the crowded venue.

12:43 a.m., Ten Thousand Saints party, Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge: Emile Hirsch put his arm around his costar Hailee Steinfeld as they sat on a couch celebrating their new film. The pair were earlier spotted snapping photos together at The Hollywood Reporter & Hollywood Foreign Press Association co-hosted Next Gen Cocktail Party before leaving together with Hirsch holding Steinfeld’s arms from behind as she led him towards the exit.

7:55 p.m., Eddie Bauer Limited Edition by Ilaria Urbinati exclusive preview:

Walking Dead

alert! Andrew Lincoln and his zombie-fighting partner-in-crime Norman Reedus took a moment to zip up their coats before they left the Eddie Bauer Adventure House and braved the freezing Park City temperatures.

7:05 p.m., The Overnight party, Chase Sapphire on Main: Sleeping with Other People star (and new dad!) Jason Sudeikis found a quiet spot at the crowded party to chat with Tig Notaro, a comedian at the center of the documentary Tig, which follows her battle with cancer that turned her into a media sensation.

5:40 p.m., TR Suites: Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez and her beau Henri Esteve snuggled up to take a super-cute picture at the Vuarnet sunglasses lift at the Otterbox-supported suite. “They came by after the suite was already closed but they were laughing and having a great time together,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE of the Golden Globe-winner and her man.

5:05 p.m., Strangerland party, Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge: Strangerland star Nicole Kidman was the first to arrive at the film’s bash and promptly headed upstairs where she passed on the cocktails but did snack on a bag of Swedish Fish candies.

4:03 p.m., Main Street:

The loudest screams on the festival’s main thoroughfare may have been for Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett. Two girls squealed as he passed by them on the street. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant took a photo with the girls before going on his way. The girls excitedly ran to the nearest sidewalk to look at the shots they had just taken.

2:39 pm., Main Street: Hailee Steinfeld was mobbed by fans looking to take a photo with the Pitch Perfect 2 actress. She obliged before being ushered into one of the Acura Studios #AcuraLive cars providing transportation at the festival. Just minutes later, her Ten Thousand Saints costar Ethan Hawke was attempting to cross the street when he too was stopped by a fan wanting an autograph.

2:20 p.m., on the slopes, Find Your Grind Presents Learn to Ride for CoachArt in association with Keek event:

The Experimenter

star Kellan Lutz took time out of his afternoon to teach children from the CoachArt charity how to snowboard. “He was absolutely great with the children,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE. “He was smiling the entire time and got extremely excited when one of them was able to get up for the first time on the snowboard.”

1:42 p.m., The Sundance Press Office Headquarters at The Marriott Hotel: Even celebs have to wait in line sometimes! Once Upon a Time star Jennifer Morrison chatted with a pal as she patiently waited to pick up screening tickets.

12:30 p.m., Kari Feinstein s Sundance Style Lounge: Glassland Toni Collette looked stunning as she entered the suite, which is presented by Aruba, but was completely unrecognizable when she left just minutes later, thanks to her big sunglasses and Third Piece hooded scarf. “I walked right past her and didn’t even know it was her,” a festival-goer tells PEOPLE.
