Carmen Sandiego's Co-Creator Dies

Raymond Portwood Jr., 66, one of the two creators of the popular “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” computer games, died of a heart attack on July 17. The game by Portwood and colleague Lauren Elliott sold about 6.5 million copies — and Carmen’s smart alecky, globe-trotting spy also starred in three TV series. Portwood’s career began when he was 17 and worked as an animator for Disney.
