The singer is gearing up to make a splash on the Great White Way in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella beginning Feb. 4
You can call her Cinderella.
Carly Rae Jepsen is gearing up for her big Broadway debut in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Feb. 4, and, as a treat to fans, she’s now shared a pair of Instagram photos from behind the scenes.
The “Call Me Maybe” singer, 28, looks like real royalty in a black-and-white snapshot posted on Tuesday, as she wears a voluminous ball gown with plenty of bustle. From the photo’s caption, it’s clear she loves her new look.
“First day on set and they let me try on the BIG wedding dress!” Jepsen wrote. “They had to bribe me with smarties to take it off.”
In a second photo, Jepsen stands in front of a mirror and tries on Cinderella’s storied glass slipper for the first time, gleefully noting, “It fits!”
News of Jepsen’s casting first broke in late December. She’ll be replacing Tony-nominated Laura Osnes in the Broadway production, and will follow in the glass-slippered steps of Julie Andrews and Brandy, who starred in TV versions of the rags-to-riches musical.
Jepsen isn’t the only famous face to join the Cinderella cast: The Nanny‘s Fran Drescher will take the stage as the wicked stepmother.
Jepsen first found fame on Canadian Idol but rocketed to stardom in 2012 when her catchy single “Call Me Maybe” took the Internet by storm and topped the Billboard charts. The Grammy-nominated singer is currently at work on her next album.
