Car Crash: Priestly Arrested

Jason Priestley crashed his new Porsche into a utility pole early Friday morning, injuring a passenger and ending up in jail on suspicion of drunken driving. The former star of “Beverly Hills, 90210” was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and released several hours later on $50,000 bond, according to LAPD Sgt. Beth Vandenberg. His blood test results were not immediately available, she said. Priestley, who was going home from a concert at the time, denied he had been drinking. “I think they do that to everybody . . . especially if you’re a celebrity in this town,” he said to the Associated Press after his release. Priestley was unhurt, but his passenger (whose name was not released) broke an arm. The Porsche was severely damaged. On Nov. 30, Priestly and his wife of nine months, makeup artist Ashlee Petersen, announced a trial separation.

  • At the time of the accident, the actor told investigators he lost control when he swerved to avoid a deer on the steep, narrow streets in the Hollywood Hills. The car hit the pole, several trash cans and a parked car. “We believe he was speeding,” Sgt. Vandenberg said. “If he had gone (the limit of) 25 m.p.h., he wouldn’t have been thrown around that far.”
