Upon accepting her Golden Globe last week for role in “The Practice,” Camryn Manheim held up her award and announced to the live broadcast audience, “I’d like to share this with every senator who votes to dismiss the (President’s impeachment) case tomorrow!” But apparently not everyone was thrilled with the actress’s politics. Manheim told PEOPLE Online contributor Bruce Kluger at the National Association of Television Program Executives convention in New Orleans that a surprising number of people have, in fact, responded negatively — though lots of fans did express their support. “It kind of hurt my feelings that some people didn’t like what I had to say,” she said, quickly adding that if she had the chance to do it over, she’d blurt out the exact same thing. “I come from a very political family. My brother is with the ACLU, and we were all taught to spea our minds.” Besides, Manheim noted, “I got a call from the White House asking for my address. Apparently the President wants to write me a thank-you note.”

  • While in the Big Easy for the TV convention, Manheim was spotted shopping in the French Market. Her purchase: a bottle of hot sauce called Monica’s Down on Your Knees Hot Sauce. Its label features a drawing of a familiar intern, on all fours, in knee pads and a beret.
