Cameron Diaz Marries Benji Madden

The couple quietly tied the knot Monday in a Los Angeles ceremony

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are writing a new chapter for the new year – the couple tied the knot at their home in Beverly Hills on Monday, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The pair set up a giant tent in their backyard and decked it out with lots of candles and white flowers, creating a very romantic atmosphere. Guests began arriving shortly after 5 p.m. PST.

Also spotted at the house was Yifat Oren, wedding planner to the stars, who also planned the wedding of Diaz’s good friend Drew Barrymore.

Diaz, 42, had her bachelorette party over the weekend in preparation of the nuptials. The couple also hosted a rehearsal dinner for family and friends at their home, which included Barrymore, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie, says a source.

The couple, who have been dating since May, got engaged just before Christmas. “All of Benji’s friends are aware [of the engagement] and happy for him,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.

The actress has been candid in recent interviews on the topic of marriage and children. “Timing is everything,” Diaz said of relationships in Cosmopolitan‘s January issue.

And the former Good Charlotte rocker, 35, also opened up about love. “I’m really happy right now,” he told PEOPLE in August, adding that love is the ultimate muse for a musician. “It’s same for any man, no matter what they do. It drives you.”

“Getting married is the next step when you are totally in love and comfortable with someone,” a source tells PEOPLE of the couple. “Cameron has found true happiness.”
