Now no one can say you don’t know what it looks like to see 25,214 stuffed animals on ice. That’s how many bears went airborne on Sunday at the Calgary Hitmen’s 20th annual Teddy Bear Toss.
The rules of the event are fairly straightforward: Wait until the first goal and then let those fuzzy toys go. It’s quite a sight to behold – and overall a lot softer than what those hockey players are used to.
But no worries about the animals’ safety. Yes, they’re secured in plastic bags before they hit the ice. Once tossed, the stuffed animals are collected and then distributed to Calgary-area charities.
