Bruce Jenner: Things Are 'Absolutely Great' with Kris Jenner
He also says Kim Kardashian is "doing a great job" as a mom
“She supports me. I see her every day. We’re doing absolutely great,” Bruce, 64, said Monday at the closing ceremonies of the All Sports Film Festival in Los Angeles, where Kris presented Bruce with a Legendary Athletes Award.
That echoes what Kris, 58, has been saying since their separation, which became public in early October – that they grew apart but that the split couldn’t be more amicable.
The only thing bothering Bruce these days, he says, is the way the media occasionally treats his children.
“Sometimes it’s very difficult,” he says. “Sometimes they’ll take some really, really tough shots at the family when they’re not deserved and totally false, especially with my kids. I don’t care what they say about me, but when they start ragging on my kids for things that they’re not doing and totally misrepresenting them, that really, really bothers me to say the least.”
Beyond that, Jenner’s only regret – and it’s one he won’t be able to fix – is that his kids never saw him in his athletic prime, when he won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon in 1976.
“I’ve got all these kids, 10 of them, and five grandchildren, and they never got to see what I was able to do back in 1976, besides on YouTube,” he says. “That’s always been a disappointment, that they didn’t see their daddy when he was 26 go out there, taking on the world and being able to conquer. But that’s the way life is, and I’m glad they’re here tonight.”
Asked about stepdaughter Kim Kardashian, Jenner says he hasn’t babysat baby North yet, but adds that Kim is “doing a great job” as a mom.
