Brooke Mueller‘s mom, Moira Wolofsky Fiore, is coming to her daughter’s defense after Mueller was briefly presumed missing with the7-year-old twin boys she shares with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

“The boys are with me now and they are doing great,” Mueller’s mom, Moira Wolofsky Fiore, exclusively tells PEOPLE of last week’s incident. “They are both in school here in Utah.”

On Tuesday night, Mueller, 39, walked into a Salt Lake City bar barefoot with her sons and the nanny, according to TMZ. While in the bar, Mueller and the nanny reportedly got into an argument, prompting a bystander to call the police.

After the incident, the Utah Department of Public Safety announced that the actress had been hospitalized, and a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the twins “are fine and with their nanny.”

According to Fiore, Mueller — who has struggled for years with substance abuse and mental health issues — has physical custody of sons Bob and Max while sharing legal custody with Sheen.

“Charlie is happy when he is with the boys, and when he is not with them, he talks to them nightly before they go to sleep,” Fiore says. “The boys are fine.”

Despite Mueller’s ups and downs, Fiore tells PEOPLE that the boys’ “lives are good.”
