Recording artists from all over the map — from pop singer Britney Spears to rappers LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Redman and Nas — are among those lending their support to imprisoned rap star Keith Murray, reports the Associated Press. Murray, 25, has been behind bars since October 1998, having received a three-year sentence following his conviction for his role in a 1995 fight at a Connecticut nightclub. The skirmish left one 16-year-old victim with disfiguring scars on his head, with prosecutors saying that Murray had hit the teen with a barstool. At a New York City news conference this week, Murray’s attorney, Joseph Moniz, said new evidence that has surfaced — such as allegations that some pro-Murray witnesses were scared away at the time of the trial — justifies reopening the book in the case.
