Britney Spears’s first Pepsi commercial — a two-minute spot for the soft drink that will feature her with dancers and a reported special appearance by Bob Dole — is set to air during the Academy Awards show on Sunday. But for those too impatient to wait until then, the commercial is set to air in its entirety online at Yahoo’s! homepage at 6 p.m. ET Sunday, two hours before the Oscar show debut. The commercial, titled “Performance,” features a special Spears version of the “Joy Of Pepsi” commercial theme and is set in a Pepsi bottling plant that comes to life when Spears, outfitted in a bra-top and hiphugger jeans, and her happy-footed colleagues show up. The pop diva, 19, signed a global marketing deal with Pepsi Cola in February that includes co-sponsorship of a worldwide concert tour. Ironically, one of Britney’s idols wasn’t so lucky when it came to forging a business deal with the soft-drink giant. Madonna’s 1989 video, “Like a Prayer,” which featured a combination of sexual and religious imagery, cost her a sponsorship deal with Pepsi. And in yet another soft drink camp, that of the No. 1 Coca-Cola Company, Oscar night will also see the unveiling of a shiny new ad campaign. Two of five new Diet Coke commercials, which feature voiceovers by Ren e Zellweger, Matthew McConaughey and several other Hollywood stars, will be aired on Sunday during the Barbara Walters pre-Oscars special on ABC.
