Bristol Palin will make her acting debut on the ABC series this summer
While her mom was reportedly out looking for a reality show, Bristol Palin was working on her own TV debut.
The 19-year-old daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin filmed her scene on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager this week during the mother-daughter visit to Los Angeles – then made a splash at a pre-Oscar party.
Working on a closed set to protect her privacy, the single mom played herself Tuesday – but as the fictional friend of Shailene Woodley’s character Amy. The episode airs in June or July.
“Despite the fact that her family has been beaten up in the press for the past few years, Bristol was willing to step out of her comfort zone and try something new, and I really respect that,” the show’s creator and executive producer Brenda Hampton tells PEOPLE. “She’s a beautiful and intelligent young woman who is also really sweet.”
Palin next made a big entrance Wednesday at the Pre-Oscar Poolside Party benefiting The Red Cross Haiti & Chile Relief Fund at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons.
Looking svelte in skinny jeans, gray blazer and heels, Palin beelined for the Christopher Drummond Beauty cabana, where she got a quick touch-up with some of the brand’s organic mineral makeup.
