The family spent Father's Day weekend together, days after NBC announced Williams would not return to NBC Nightly News
Disagraced NBC anchor Brian Williams spent the Saturday before Father’s Day with his family, where he was seen out with his wife Jane and daughter Allison for the first time since apologizing to viewers and colleagues for saying “things that weren’t true” while at NBC Nightly News.
In an interview with Today‘s Matt Lauer, Williams blamed his distortions on ego. “It came from a bad place. It came from a sloppy choice of words. I told stories that were not true over the years. Looking back, it is very clear.
“I never intended to. It got mixed up. It got turned around in my mind,” he said.
In a Father’s Day post Sunday, Allison, 27, celebrated Williams as the “Atticus to my Scout,” and shared two cute throwback pics from her childhood.
The Girls star has defended her dad from the beginning of the scandal.
“My dad has always been there for us 100 percent of the time, even sometimes before we knew we needed him. And so this, to be here for him, is the least we can do,” she told Seth Meyers at a 92nd Street Y event in February.
“He’s a really good man,” she added. “He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism. And yes, he’s a really good dad, but I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I have tested him on that.”
