We're getting a little emotional just thinking about it
The star couple’s relationship is one to admire in Hollywood (especially this summer). Not only do the pair consistently nail it when it comes to PDA, but they also bear a decade’s worth of knowledge when it comes to love. “It’s been a beautiful year,” Jolie Pitt told PEOPLE back in December. “I’m very grateful every day.”
To celebrate the couple’s wedding anniversary, we’re taking a look back at the most memorable moments that have composed their first year as husband and wife.
Introducing Mrs. Jolie Pitt
It wasn’t until her March 24 New York Times op-ed – this one detailed her decision to have her fallopian tubes and ovaries removed to prevent cancer – went live that we were introduced to a new side of the humanitarian. The actress was introduced to the world, on that March day, as Angelina Jolie Pitt, which is how she was credited in her byline. She was also identified by her additional surname at the Kids’ Choice Awards, where she earned the Favorite Villain award for Maleficent.
The Kids Are Growing Up
Ah, it seems like it was just yesterday that we were introduced to the growing Jolie-Pitt clan, then mostly comprised of toddlers. Now? Not so much. Maddox, 14, is working alongside Mom on her new movie set in Cambodia, his birth place. Even the younger kids, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 9 are getting in on life-altering experiences – the trio joined their famous mom on a humanitarian trip to Myanmar and have helped and talked to dad Brad about building houses for his Make It Right Foundation.
Hollywood Royalty Meets British Royalty
In June, the couple traveled to London for a luncheon at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, as Jolie Pitt serves as a special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The couple visited Prince William and Kate at Kensington Palace during their travels. Not present: Prince George and his chubby cheeks.
Brad Shows Off a Family-Inspired Tattoo
Although not new, PEOPLE first got a view of Pitt’s tattoo in July during an outing to Toys “R” Us in Glendale, California. The never-before-seen ink – a cross with first-name initials – is a sweet tribute to the actor’s wife and kids.
Angelina & Brad Will Reunite On-Screen
Working on your honeymoon may not sound so appealing, but mixing business and pleasure works just fine for the pair, who used their family trip as an opportunity to shoot scenes for By the Sea, their first on-screen reunion since 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith. “I understand and appreciate his creative process and his work ethic even more than before,” says Jolie Pitt, who directs and stars in the film.
