You have to wonder: Did they fight over who got to be Danny Zuko?

Crooner Rufus Wainwright assembled an eclectic dream team of male vocalists for a Toronto concert last weekend. The line-up included Josh Groban, Boy George, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page and stage singer Brent Carver.

It seems like an unlikely group, period, much less one that would join together in a rendition of the beloved Grease tune “Summer Nights.” But that’s exactly what happened last Saturday, as shown by this fan video taken at the finale of If I Loved You: Gentlemen Prefer Broadway at the Toronto Luminato Festival. The rest of the show had co-curator Wainwright singing duets one-on-one.

And in case you’re wondering, that’s countertenor Brennan Hall who’s bravely taking on the role of Sandy – and, notably, doing better with it than a lot of guys could do.
