Bolton Loses Suit

Michael Bolton is singing the blues following yesterday’s decision by a federal appeals court which upheld a $5.4 million ruling against the pop singer for plagiarizing one of his biggest hits. The court ruled 3-0 to reject Bolton’s request for a new trial, reports Reuters. In 1994, a jury sided with Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers, who charged that Bolton’s 1991 hit song “Love Is a Wonderful Thing” ripped off their 1966 song by the same name, and ruled that the group was entitled to 66 percent of the song’s profits. There has been no comment from Bolton or the Isley Brothers camp.
