Just three weeks after separating, celebrity chef Bobby Flay has filed for divorce from wife Stephanie March, PEOPLE has confirmed.

In court documents, Flay says their marriage has “broken down irretrievably,” E! News reports.

“The couple had been drifting apart for several months,” and even tried to salvage their marriage over a New Year’s trip to Amsterdam, a source close to Flay tells PEOPLE. “But when they got back to the U.S., Bobby flew to L.A. to tape his show. Three weeks ago he returned to N.Y.C. and Stephanie asked him to leave.”

“Bobby is heartbroken over the end of his marriage. He will always have a place in his heart for Stephanie,” says the source.

Another source previously told PEOPLE that the couple’s problems had made the split “inevitable,” but added, “There’s still a lot of love there and no one makes Stephanie laugh more than Bobby, so this was hard for both of them. They’ve been living apart for several weeks.”

The Food Network star and Law & Order: SVU actress wed 10 years ago in New York City after dating for four years.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot, TMZ reports.

Flay, 50, and March, 40, do not have any children together. This is the restaurateur’s third divorce.
