Bobby Brown: 'My Story Needs to Be Told'
The singer says of Whitney: "There is nothing I have to discuss with her anymore"
In his new tell-all book, Bobby Brown says many of his troubles came out of his marriage to Whitney Houston – but as he told PEOPLE Thursday night: “My story needs to be told.”
“I was married to a woman everybody knows for 14 years and we had a great marriage,” he said at the premiere of MTV’s new reality rock show, Rock the Cradle, which features his eldest son Landon Brown. “Suddenly it abruptly ended and I don’t know why, but it did.”
Brown, 39, split with Houston, 44, in 2006. The couple has one daughter together, 15-year-old Bobbi Kristina. The divorce was finalized in April 2007.
Houston spoke out on Thursday saying, “Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he need to say such things but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it’s to set the record straight.”
But beyond his book, Brown says there will be no more dirt about his ex. “Me and Whitney are divorced. There is nothing I have to discuss with her anymore. I don’t have anything bad to say about her. She should have no worries.”
