Nick Gordon has received a lot of bad news over the past few days.

On Wednesday, his girlfriend, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was moved to hospice care, and her conservators filed a complaint against him, accusing him of domestic abuse as well as of stealing $11,000 from her.

Now, Gordon is holed up in an Orlando-area home, watching TV and checking the Internet for any information on Brown’s condition, as well as any further legal developments.

“He feels – and we all feel – like Nick has been a scapegoat in this case,” a close relative of Gordon’s tells PEOPLE. “It’s scary for him, because he hasn’t done anything wrong. He is completely innocent.”

“He has always cooperated with police, and he has nothing to hide,” the relative continues. “Anyone who looks at the facts would see that.”

On Thursday, the Fulton County district attorney confirmed that his office is reviewing the Jan. 31 incident that left Brown incapacitated.

“We will be reviewing the case with greater interest,” Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. told PEOPLE in a statement.

The relative says that Gordon is holding up as well as can be expected. “It’s a stressful time for him,” says the relative. “He’s not doing too well, but he’s being as strong as he can.”

Gordon has been barred from visiting Brown.

“The last time he visited her, he didn’t know it would be the last time,” the relative tells PEOPLE. “He just wants to say goodbye.”
