Rapper Flo Rida knew Beyoncé was a great artist and performer when they toured together – and now he says he’s confident she’ll be just as capable at motherhood.

“Most definitely she’ll [be a good mom],” he told PEOPLE at Thursday’s Today Show 60th Anniversary Celebration in New York. “She grew up in an environment where her mom was there, and I’m sure she’ll learn some tricks of the trade from her mom.”

The rapper, who performed at the event, also sent his good wishes to the superstar mom and dad Jay-Z on the birth of their first child together, Blue Ivy.

“I just wish their kid a lot of health and strength,” he said. “I’m a big fan of Jay-Z and Beyoncé. I went on tour with Beyoncé. She’s a great individual. I’m sure it’s going to work out for them.”

Today show host Kathie Lee Gifford also shared her well wishes for the new mom.

“We know Beyoncé, we love her,” Gifford told PEOPLE. “She’s a dear, dear person, and I’m happy for her.”
