The Internet collectively concludes that love isn't real

If Twitter were a person, she’d be wearing black and listening to Alanis Morissette.

After Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced in a joint statement to PEOPLE that they “made the difficult decision to divorce” after 10 years of marriage, fans quickly began to express their heartbreak in 140 characters or fewer, of course.

“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time,” they said in Tuesday’s statement. “This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”

Yes, the matter is, undoubtedly, “private” – but the public had lots and lots to say. //
