Ben Affleck‘s holding no animosity over his ex Jennifer Garner‘s bombshell interview with Vanity Fair about their divorce.

He read the article but “doesn’t seem mad about it,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. “It was all fair.”

Last month, Garner, 43, appeared on the March cover of VF, as she opened up about the final days of their crumbling marriage.

“I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow,” the Miracles from Heaven actress said at the time.

Affleck, 43, opened up for the first time publicly in a New York Times interview published Monday.

“We’re on great terms,” the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star said, adding “it’s fine” Garner did the VF interview. “She’s allowed to talk about it … She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with, so she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it – I don’t want to do it again.’ ”

Parents to Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4, Affleck and Garner announced their decision to split in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE in June.
