While Ben Affleck films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in Detroit this summer, wife and actress Jennifer Garner plans to stay in Los Angeles with their three kids and take trips to see Affleck in Detroit, according to a source close to the family.
“She thinks the kids are better off staying in L.A. with their friends and where they can enjoy the beach,” the source says.
Since Affleck started filming Batman in mid-May, Garner’s mother-in-law, Chris, has stepped in to lend a hand with the kids.
“Ben’s mom came to L.A. for a few days to help out and to spend time with her grandkids, but otherwise Jen has juggled all three kids like she always does,” the source says.
Affleck traveled home to see his family last weekend for Father’s Day, where his daughter Seraphina, 5, helped him pick out a gift for Garner at Barneys in Beverly Hills. The couple’s ninth anniversary is on June 29.
When the Batman front man isn’t filming, he has been seen in Detroit-area casinos and getting buff for his superhero role at local gyms. Garner was spotted in town with her husband the first weekend in June.
According to the family source, Garner isn’t thrilled about Affleck spending time at casinos, but their marriage is solid.
“Jen isn’t happy with Ben’s gambling, she never understood his gambling obsession and she doesn’t want him to be in the news [for it]. She’s the most patient wife ever and is still very much in love with Ben.”
