The elder Beckham, 59, is recuperating in East London’s Chest Hospital, following a heart attack Wednesday night and then undergoing successful coronary surgery to clear a blocked artery.
A spokeswoman tells PEOPLE he remains in a “stable” condition at the clinic.
Britain’s Sky News quotes David’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, as telling the Daily Star: “Ted’s much better now. They wouldn’t be going otherwise. He should be out soon. They are both really pleased with how he’s doing.”
David Beckham, 32, flew to London on Thursday. Visiting his father on Sunday with wife Victoria, the Los Angeles Galaxy star was told by hospital staff that his father should be free to leave soon.
Sunday evening, David and Victoria Beckham were photographed in casual clothes at London’s Heathrow Airport departure lounge, looking exhausted.
