Kevin Bacon is said to be completing a deal to play the title role in “The Hollow Man,” a drama about an invisible man. Variety says Paul Verhoeven will direct the film, which starts in April. Bacon and Elisabeth Shue will play scientists who were once lovers and who — with another scientist with whom Shue’s character is currently having a romance — discover the secret of invisibility. The guinea pig is Bacon, who begins to use his vanishing act to create havoc.

  • In other casting news, Ben (“There’s Something About Mary”) Stiller will star in Universal’s “Karaoke Knight,” said to be another “Kingpin” — this time set in the world of karaoke. Stiller will play a singer-wannabe whose charisma and stage presence is offset by a terrible voice.
