Barbra Streisand as everyone’s favorite relative? That’s the word, now that the star appears to be inching closer to headlining the TV version of the 1966 Broadway musical “Mame.” Last year it was reported that Streisand would executive produce, but not star in, the ABC TV special for “The Wonderful World of Disney.” The latest update, from Variety, has Rob Marshall, who directed TV’s “Annie,” and Peter Tolan, who wrote “Analyze This,” set to direct and write the TV “Mame” — and Streisand now saying that she would consider starring. “Mame,” about novelist Patrick Dennis’s madcap aunt, began life as a ’50s play and movie with Rosalind Russell. The character’s philosophy: “Live! Live! Live!”
