Producers at NBC’s top-rated “ER” are said to be “puzzled” by star Eriq LaSalle, who last week complained about being held back on the show because he’s black, reports New York’s Daily News. It took producers five years to approve a breakout episode for his character because they were not comfortable, he suggested, making “a minority the point person in a drama.” While the producers declined to comment, an insider at Warner Bros., the “ER” production company, told the paper, “They think Eriq is wrong. This is one of the most ethnically diverse shows on TV.” LaSalle had made his remarks in a conference-call interview with reporters on Friday.
