Ashley Parker Angel is sharing the horrifying details of a drunk-driver’s accident that has his mom fighting for her life in the hospital.

On Wednesday, the O-Town crooner took to Instagram with an image showing the devastating aftermath of the crash involving his mother Paula Parker and stepfather Ron Angel. According to the singer – who asked for prayers for his parents via Instagram Tuesday – Ron and Paula were both in critical condition Monday night.

“This picture is hard to even look at,” Angel, 34, wrote of the smashed vehicle his mom was driving at the time of impact. “The photo was taken just moments after my Mom was cut by the jaws of life out of her destroyed car, after being pinned down and trapped inside for over an hour.” According to Angel, “the combined impact of both vehicles was like slamming into a wall at 120 mph.”

He continued: “Bottom line: this is what drunk driving looks like and not a soul alive deserves to be put through this kind of life-altering trauma due to the irresponsible and disgraceful actions of others.”

Days after the nightmare, Parker said his mom “remains in critical condition as Doctors continue to care for her around the clock.” And despite the great odds his mom is facing, he’s staying positive about her prognosis. Explained Angel: “Anyone who knows my Mom knows she is a fighter and a survivor, as well as having the most beautiful and loving spirit of anyone on the planet.”

He also expressed appreciation for sweet messages from fans, friends and family as he copes with the reality: “I just want to say how deeply grateful I am to all of you who have kept my Mom in your thoughts and prayers these last critical 48 hours,” Angel penned. “I can’t even begin to tell you how much strength and faith my entire family has gained from all of your support.” For Angel, “every positive thought, every prayer and kind word is appreciated more than words can even express.”

He concluded the note with a heartbreaking reminder of what can happen when a driver gets behind the wheel of a vehicle drunk: “She did not deserve this. No one does.”
