Arnett Ankles CNN

CNN correspondent Peter Arnett, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who played a prominent role in a since-retracted report that the U.S. military used nerve gas to kill defectors during the Vietnam war, is leaving the network, Arnett’s agent and CNN said on Monday. Arnett’s agent, Richard Leibner, and the Atlanta-based Cable News Network, a unit of Time Warner Inc. (the parent of PEOPLE), released a joint statement saying they had reached “an understanding that will bring Arnett’s 18-year service to an amicable conclusion.” A CNN official said the network would make no further comment, and Leibner could not be reached for a statement.
