The actor is muscling his way out of teen musicals into more adult roles, having recently signed on for a “sexy thriller,” according to Hollywood Reporter. “I like backpacking, hiking, surfing, swimming, playing tennis – things that get you active and are also fun,” he told PEOPLE.
Even Gyllenhaal’s Lego figurine has buff arms! The actor got ripped for the sake of art, to play Prince Dastan in next year’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. “I’ve gotten buff,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I over-prepared myself because I never knew how much they were going to ask me to do.”

Although the New Moon star has said he doesn’t “want to become known as just a body” – what a body it is! He packed on 30 lbs. of muscle to play werewolf Jacob in the series, and will continue to build the muscle until shooting wraps on the final film, Breaking Dawn.
He helped costar Taylor Lautner pump up for New Moon, and Lutz – who plays the brawny vampire Emmett in the series – says he “loves push-ups. Those are the easiest thing for me.”
