Aretha Franklin has suffered a wardrobe malfunction – but not the kind that usually comes to mind.

On Friday, while on the road to promote her album A Woman Falling Out Of Love, the Queen of Soul put the emphasis on “falling” in her Dallas hotel suite – by stumbling over one of her Jimmy Choo spiked heels, which had gotten caught on her toe.

It “hurt like heck for a minute, but seemed to subside,” Franklin, 69, said via her rep. Even so, a few days later, the music legend’s tour bus made an unscheduled stop at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, where X-rays revealed a fracture in her left index toe.

Of course, it could have been worse.

“I’m so grateful it wasn’t my right piano [pedal] foot,” said the singer, who is back on track after her health scare last year. Still, the broken toe does present a problem.

Now 85 pounds lighter, Franklin boasts a whole new show wardrobe, none of which goes with her new hospital-issued footwear.

Joked the 18-time Grammy winner, who is still scheduled to perform in Virginia Tuesday night: “How am I supposed to match my new Marc Jacobs gown with this wooden blue hospital shoe?”
