Meet the only person with more faith in his own authority than Donald Trump. (Political humor!)

We bet you didn’t know that Mexico has a self-appointed Grand Warlock. Well, it does, and his name is Antonio Vasquez. For over 30 years, the septuagenarian has been holding an annual press conference where he reads tarot cards and makes predictions about what’s going to happen in the upcoming year. It’s become one of Mexico’s more fondly indulged-in annual traditions. Also, check out his eyebrows.

Vasquez continues to make predictions, year in and year out, despite the fact that, like most prognosticators, he’s got a pretty spotty track record. He predicted that Fidel Castro would die in 2008, that Germany would win the 2006 World Cup, and that Barack Obama would lose to Mitt Romney. Weirdly, he has been right about Hugo Chavez’s death, the 2012 Mexican presidential election, and Mexico’s triumph over Cameroon in the 2014 World Cup.

Vasquez’s 2016 predictions include good news for Mexico, economically – though that seems to be a pretty common prediction of his – but says that climate change will continue to pose problems. “The weather is going to be a disaster,” he said, mentioning earthquakes and hurricanes. He did, however, rule out the possibility of World War III, but said that “there will be problems.”
