A private funeral for actor Anton Yelchin was held on Friday, PEOPLE confirms.

The late Star Trek star was memorialized by loved ones at the service, held at an undisclosed location, five days after he was found dead outside his home in Studio City, California.

The 27-year-old actor died of “blunt traumatic asphyxia,” Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed to PEOPLE, after his car rolled backward down his driveway and pinned the actor to his front gate.

A police investigation into the circumstances of Yelchin’s death is ongoing, and toxicology tests are expected to be available in 6-8 weeks.

Police are currently investigating whether his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee – which had been part of a recall by car manufacturer Fiat Chrysler – had a gearshift design that made it difficult for drivers to determine whether the car was in “neutral” or “park” modes.

VIDEO: Costars and Other Celebs Remember Star Trek Actor Anton Yelchin

Yelchin’s friends and costars have remembered the young actor in a series of social media statements.

His Star Trek costars Zachary Quinto and Zoë Saldana each posted tributes to Instagram, where they also credited Rihanna for helping them cope with the lose. The singer’s new single “Sledgehammer” will serve as the theme song for Star Trek: Beyond.

“After such an unimaginably sad week for our star trek family – @badgalriri brings some light into the darkness,” Quinto, 39, wrote on Monday.

Saldana wrote, “Thank you @badgalriri, for a beautiful song during one of the most difficult times for our StarTrek family. We know Anton would be proud.”

Steven Spielberg, who worked with Yelchin in the 2002 miniseries Taken, said of the late actor, “He was a lovely young man. He was a gentleman.”

“Your sudden and unexpected departure has left us all broken hearted,” Saldana previously wrote on Instagram. “I woke up today feeling absolute gratitude that I had you as a friend and colleague. Your life has been cut short, but I will always tell everyone about you. You were kind, present, old souled, curious, brilliant, funny, humble, honest, and undeniably talent.”

“All love and strength to his family at this impossible time of grief,” Quinto also wrote on Instagram. “One of the most open and intellectually curious people I have ever had the pleasure to know. So enormously talented and generous of heart. Wise beyond his years. And gone before his time.”
