Nearly three days after the boyfriend of Tali Lennox-Fruchtmann – the daughter of singer Annie Lennox – went missing after a kayaking accident, authorities say his body may have been recovered.
Monday afternoon, a male body was found that matches Jones’ description, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office told PEOPLE in a statement, adding that “while there is a strong possibility that the body recovered is that of Mr. Jones, it remains only a possibility at this time.”
An autopsy to determine the death and identification is scheduled for Tuesday, and the search for Jones has been suspended.
Visual artist Lennox-Fruchtmann, 22, and model/photographer Jones, 32, were kayaking in the Hudson River near Poughkeepsie, New York, Saturday morning when they capsized.
“The current in the Hudson River is very strong, and we believe the current played a role in the kayak capsizing, and once the two got in the water it was difficult for them to stay together,” Dutchess County Sherrif’s Captain John Watterson told PEOPLE at the time, adding that alcohol may have played a role as well.
Lennox-Fruchtmann was in the water for about 20 minutes before a passing vessel rescued her; meanwhile, rescue teams searched for Jones throughout the weekend into Monday.
