Jennifer Aniston’s mother, Nancy Aniston, spoke to TV therapist Dr. Joy Browne on her show about her temporary estrangement from her daughter — an enmity that was triggered when Nancy talked to a tabloid TV show. “I made just a couple of little comments about my daughter, but I found out later that this particular show was so bad in their reporting . . . that the actors were boycotting it.” She said that Jennifer’s reaction was to phone her mother, express her anger, then hang up. “I thought later we would discuss it,” Nancy told Dr. Joy. “Apparently it was maybe more than just that issue. There were things that we really needed to work out and we needed time apart.” The issue “didn’t get resolved for quite a long time, but there did come a point where I was able to tell her exactly what happened so she would understand.” Not exactly a plotline for “Friends.”
