After a turbulent few years, the former child star has bright future in fashion, her parents' lawyer tells PEOPLE
Amanda Bynes is back in school and “doing great.”
The actress has started taking classes again at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where she first enrolled back in 2014, her parents’ lawyer Tamar Arminak confirmed to PEOPLE.
Arminak said Bynes is at the school’s Los Angeles, California, campus.
“We are all so proud of her, and can’t wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday,” the attorney said.
Bynes stopped attending classes last August, before the end of the quarter and her September DUI arrest, a former classmate of the star told PEOPLE last year. Despite rumors that the Easy A star, 29, was kicked out of FIDM, the student said Bynes “wasn’t out of control and she never threw a fit.”
Lindsey White, a hairstylist, told PEOPLE at the time that Bynes, who was majoring in product development, stopped taking classes after a skin procedure.
“She had all plans to finish school, but she had a few procedures done and didn’t want to be in public at FIDM,” White said in October 2014. “She hated going to school.”
Despite a few turbulent years, Bynes appears to be in a much better place.
“Amanda is doing great. She appreciates all of the love and support she receives from family, friends and fans,” her attorney David Esquibias told PEOPLE in June.
The actress made a return to social media in August when she accompanied designer Michael Costello to a Los Angeles gala.
“Me and the fabulous Michael Costello (I’m wearing one of his beautiful gowns) at the SOAR Los Angeles Gala!” Bynes Tweeted after The Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief event.
Bynes remains under the temporary conservatorship of her parents.
