What’s even better than hanging out in your pajamas with Christina Aguilera at her house? Recording a duet with the superstar on the same night.

Season 10 Voice winner Alisan Porter and her coach had a fun night recording Carole King and James Taylor’s hit song “You’ve Got a Friend” leading up to the finale, the rising star tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“It was just the two of us and her engineer, and we went through the song a couple times and just nit-picked little things,” says Porter, 34. “We were just in our pajamas like super chill, taking out our hair and makeup and really bonding.”

The fun experience – which included Aguilera “throwing blankets at me and laying on the floor with her dogs,” says Porter – was also a chance for her to see another side of her coach.

“It was just moments like that where she became a real person to me,” says Porter. “I was so starstruck by her at first ’cause she’s freaking Christina Aguilera, you know?”

Porter – whose priority continues to be her kids (with husband Brian Autenrieth, 38), Mason, 3½, and Aria, 2 – also learned a bit about balancing being a working mom from watching Aguilera.

“Her fiancé comes to set all the time and her kids come and she goes right into mom mode,” says Porter. “It was just really good to watch that she was incorporating that all into her work life. It’s so cool to see how happy she was to have her kids there and she’ll get right down there on the floor. That’s the kind of mom I am. I’m super hands-on and that was my biggest fear coming in, that I would lose that.”
