Ali's Missing Fists

A bronze casting of Muhammad Ali’s famous fists was missing from a foundry that was producing a limited number of the replicas. Peter Homestead, president of the Tallix Art Foundry in Beacon NY, was optimistic that the boxer’s hands were merely misplaced in the 80,000-square-foot facility. (The foundry is noted for casting Leonardo da Vinci’s Lost Horse, the Korean War Memorial in Washington and many sculptures for late pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.) “I’m not naive,” Homestead told the Associated Press, “but I’m hoping they’re going to turn up in some corner — not that we haven’t already looked very closely.” It is believed the hands disappeared between Dec. 4-9, said police Lt. William Cornett.
