Ahead of the highly anticipated release of her new album, 25, Adele shared a moving letter about the inspiration behind her latest music and all the feelings she has been experiencing during her extended hiatus. (Hold on, we need a crying break – okay, as you were.)

“I feel like I’ve spent my whole life so far wishing it away. Always wishing I was older, wishing I was somewhere else, wishing I could remember and wishing I could forget, too,” she wrote, and we’re not crying – YOU’RE CRYING. “I miss everything about my past, the good and the bad, but only because it won’t come back.”

While her letter perfectly encapsulates the experience of becoming an IRL adult, it’s far from the first time the insanely talented singer has flawlessly articulated our feels about life. As you prepare yourself for the sure to be intense catharsis of listening to 25, we’re honoring all the other times Adele has spoken/sung directly from our own hearts.

When you’re being real about your faults
“I know I have a fickle heart and a bitterness, and a wandering eye, and a heaviness in my head.”
– “Don’t You Remember”

On picking friends that help you live your best life
“I have insecurities of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”
– to Vogue

When you know someone is being played
“Bless your soul, you’ve got you’re head in the clouds. You made a fool out of you/ And, boy, she’s bringing you down.”
– “Rumour Has It”

When you have your priorities in order
“I’ve never seen magazine covers and seen music videos and been like, “I need to look like that if I want to be a success.” Never, I don’t want to be some skinny mini with my t— out.”
– in an interview with Anderson Cooper

When it’s time to move on
“This love has dried up and stayed behind. And if I stay I’ll be alive, then choke on words I’d always hide. Excuse me, first love, but we’re through. I need to taste the kiss from someone new.”
– “First Love”

On struggling to express yourself
“In person, I can never talk about my feelings either. If you were my fellow, and we were having a serious conversation, I’d be laughing. Or just crying. I can never be articulate with how something is making me feel. I can never find the words.”
– to Vogue

When you’re freaking out about lost time but also kind of okay with it
“Every now and then my memories ache with the empty ideas of the ones we’d have made. But as time goes on and my age gets older, I love the ones I know. They’re enough to picture the rest.”
– “Now and Then”

When you’re dealing with heartbreak
“Don’t forget me, I beg, I remember you said, sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.”
– “Someone Like You”

When you’re way mad at bae
“The scars of your love remind me of us. They keep me thinking that we almost had it all.”
– “Rolling in the Deep”

When you’re going to come back stronger no matter what it takes
“Next time I’ll be braver. I’ll be my own savior, Standing on my own two feet. I won’t let you close enough to hurt me.”
– “Turning Tables”
