Adele‘s fans have been emotionally preparing themselves for the release of her highly anticipated album 25, even more so after teasing a snippet of her new single “When We Were Young.”

And in addition to her powerful lyrics, the 27-year-old British songbird recently dished out some keen advice on checking self perception.

“I do have body image problems for sure but I’ve had them all my life. There’s bigger issues going on in the world than how I might feel about myself,” Adele said to SiriusXM‘s Jenny Eliscu on Monday.

“But mainly there’s only one of you, so why would you want to look like anyone else? Why would you want the same hairstyle as everyone else? And have the same opinions as everyone else?” the 10-time Grammy winner told the audience during the intimate Q&A session.

Among the topics discussed was her favorite thing about being a mom to 3-year-old son Angelo.

“I think everything else in my life now being about someone else and not about myself,” Adele gushed about motherhood. “Now he really slows the world down for me which I appreciate when I’m doing this kind of thing and when I’m not, you know everyday life is fast as well.”

Adding: “And just the out of body experience of loving someone so much regardless of anything, and even the stuff I find really hard when I get stressed and wound up as well of being a mom teaches you stuff about yourself.”

She and longtime love Simon Konecki welcomed their baby boy in October 2012.
