Actor Christian Slater Files for Divorce

The True Romance star seeks to end his nearly five year marriage to Ryan Haddon

Actor Christian Slater has filed for divorce from his wife of five years, TV producer Ryan Haddon.

Slater cites irreconcilable differences in his court papers, filed Feb. 18 in Los Angeles Superior Court. The pair will share joint custody of their two kids, Jaden Christopher, 5, and Eliana Sophia, 3.

“The mutual decision was reached amicably and they remain committed to raising their two young children together,” Slater’s publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, said in a statement Wednesday. “They ask for the respect of their privacy at this time.”

Slater, 35, and Haddon, 34, who wed on Valentine’s Day of 2000, have had a volatile relationship. In November 2003, Slater ended up with a gash over his left ear allegedly inflicted by his wife, police said. Witnesses reported that the Pump Up the Volume star stumbled out of an elevator at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, bleeding and saying, “My wife’s f—ing crazy.”

Officers later arrested Haddon, but she was released after Slater said it was all an accident.

Financial details of the split are yet to be determined, according to court documents.
